[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snippet_(programming) Code snippets] have been around for a very long time. One of the great features of [[File:Allaire homesite.jpg|right]] Allaire HomeSite was that it allowed you to save code snippets for later use. These days there are entire websites devoted to code snippets. Here are some of them:
# http://www.webmonkey.com/code-snippets/ Webmonkey, because it's an original.
# github.com "gists" https://github.com/search?q=gists
# https://wordpress.org/plugins/code-snippets/ snippets for WordPress
[[wp:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastebin|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastebin]] is not a snippet website, but deserves mention because it solves an equally important function for the programmer: it allows you to share code while you are working on it, without flooding your IRC or communication channel.
