''freephile'' is a moniker I chose a long time ago combining the ideals of "freedom" and the Greek "philos" to represent my affection for things like free thought, freedom of expression, free knowledge, freedom from oppression. I think it is unfortunate that the free software revolution which started in the mid 1980's is pretty much dead and captive to 'open source'.

When not at work, I take to the beaches, woods, trails, and mountains of New England to enjoy swimming, hiking, disc golf and scenic motorcycle rides. My [[Interests]] also include organic gardening and photography.
