For systems running RHEL or Centos, the IUS repositories and community project are a way to get selected packages updated. See https://ius.io/

It's kinda like using EPEL. But whereas EPEL is geared toward adding packages that are not in the base distribution, IUS is geared towards updating packages so that they are not stale compared with the upstream projects.
