wp:Citation

For 3rd-party wikis, replicating the advanced functionality found on Wikipedia for authors to create Citations is a challenge. There is a vast reference for all the wp:Help:Citation_tools but you may just want to resort to much easier solutions like the RefScript bookmarklet; or using sites like scribbr.com and paste the results into a ref tag.

For the ambitious, you could try to setup the node.js service mw:Citoid plus the Citoid extension to enhance the citation functionality of the Visual Editor. You could try adding wp:Wikipedia:RefToolbar which works with the extension mw:Extension:WikiEditor for augmenting the source editing experience. For these, you will likely need to export and import all the lua modules and templates in the cite category, such as wp:Template:Cite web and wp:Module:Citation/CS1
