Some of the things needed for a first-time setup:

<li>set the headers and footers for mailings
<li>set the message template for mailings
Interestingly, CiviCRM optionally uses <code>[http://wkhtmltopdf.org/ wkhtmltopdf]</code> to convert HTML to PDF
